Gas Safety Week 2018

Carshalton Boilers are proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2018, running from 17th – 23rd September. The aim of Gas Safety week is to raise awareness around the importance of gas safety and taking care of the gas appliances around your home.

Ensuring safety in your home

Poorly fitted or maintained gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and even worse Carbon Monoxide poisoning. It is important to follow these simple tips to keep you and your family safe:

  • Thoroughly check your gas appliances every year
  • Check that your engineer is Gas Safe registered (this can be checked through GasSafeRegister.com)
  • Check that your engineer is qualified for the type of gas work that needs carrying out (this information can be found on the back of their Gas Safe ID card)
  • Have an audible Carbon Monoxide alarm

Know the 6 main symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Collapse
  • Loss of consciousness

Check for warning signs that your appliances are not working correctly:

  • Lazy yellow or orange flames instead of crisp blue ones
  • Black marks on or around the appliance
  • A pilot light that keeps going out
  • Excess condensation in the room
